The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) is one of Africa’s most significant developments in art and culture. Spanning over 9 floors, containing the world-renowned Zeitz Collection that will form the museum’s founding collection the focus is on “collecting, preserving, researching and exhibiting cutting edge contemporary art from Africa and its Diaspora…preserving its own cultural legacy, writing its own history and defining itself on its own terms.”
A 102,000 square feet construction at the historic Grain Silo site in the V&A Waterfront will be complete in 2017 placing it among leading contemporary art museums in the world. Heatherwick of UK (projects include the Thames Garden Bridge, Google Mountain View Campus, and more) are the architectural studio behind the avant-garde urban design.
